There are all sorts of people who have stood up for their rights, both in the United States and elsewhere.
For example, in the United States, you have people like Cesar Chavez. Chavez is well known because he helped to create labor unions that would protect the rights of farm workers, most of whom were Hispanic.
You could also look at someone like Curt Flood. Curt Flood was a baseball player who put his career in jeopardy to fight for the right of players to be able to pick where they wanted to play. Before that, a player could only play for one team until it decided to get rid of him. Flood did not exactly help the "little people" but his stand was brave and it attained more rights for people whose rights were being trampled.
