The Ottoman Empire was centered in Asia Minor and the Middle East. The dominant ethnicity was Turks. The official religion was Sunni Islam. They were hostile to majority Christian Europe, frequently clashing with neighboring Russia and in the Balkans. They controlled the Dardanelles and Bosporus until the end of World War I. Carried out the infamous Armenian Genocide right before World War I. Sided with the Central Powers in World War I, by keeping the Dardanelles and Bosporus closed to military traffic (the Russian Black Sea fleet could not back up the French in the Mediterranean). I'm sure that with a little research in a History textbook, or an Encylcopedia you could find a lot more.
