Many of the inappropriate marketing of the past has been removed. For example, in 1992, Joe Camel (the mascot for Camel cigarettes) was banned because critics of the character believed that the cartoon character encouraged underage smoking.
Today, many drinks have been accused as trying to appeal to underage people by creating products which teens would be more apt to try. One example of this is is alcoholic beverages which flavor and color the product and put the product in colorful containers.
Out side of this, there are many products which try to take advantage of people and their curiosities. The new marketing on "legal" drugs, natural derivatives of illegal drugs, promises highs similar to those which one would have when taking the "real thing." This is certainly inappropriate when it comes to the lack of study and research of the product.
