With the enlargement of the outlook of men, in today's world, religion is getting rid of the age-old superstitions and dogmas. But men taking the advantage of secularism and modernism are doing away with religion and leading a non-religious life which lacks discipline. So the function of religion in today's context is to re-introduce discipline and feelings of brotherhood to the followers. Religion had not only a dark side but also a brighter side, so we just cant do without religion, we can see to that, the evil aspects of religion are omitted while keeping intact the positive aspects in it.

In today's society, the function of magic is very limited. Only the backward areas of the world still believe in magical happenings and whenever they cant understand why something happens and why cant they control it, that gives rise to magic. Today in some backward villages and in a few underdeveloped areas magic is practised.

The role of Religion in today's society, is a topic of debate. Religion plays an important role by including in its body, a vast code of ethics and rules which can help one to lead an acceptable life in the society. It creates a sense of right and wrong in one and all. For any civilized country or society, discipline is needed.

But the importance of Religion is decreasing day by day as men and women are getting secular and atheist.

Magic has almost a very negligible role in today's life where atheism is taking the centre stage and people believe in finding out the reasons behind any strange happenings through various resources available these days, rather than calling such strange happenings as "magic".
