Given that almost all of the production of ozone and the depletion of the actual ozone layer is due to man-made or man-directed industry and products, it is difficult to point to any living thing besides the human species as being involved in producing or modifying the ozone layer.

The production of and maintenance of the ozone layer is almost entirely due to a photochemical process as ultraviolet rays from the sun interact with oxygen molecules in the upper atmosphere, changing them and creating ozone.
