Creation is a large theme in The Mind of the Maker by Dorothy L. Sayers. Sayers compares the creation of man and the world by God in Genesis to artistic creation.

According to Christian teaching, God made man and woman in his image, and He also gave man and woman the ability to create. Sayers believes that if we, as humans, want to understand God, we should focus on understanding artists and how they are able to create. This will help us understand the Trinity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Sayers believes that focusing on artistic creativity will not only open individuals up to a different world, but will also help them understand God, develop a relationship with God, and be connected to the Holy Spirit.
