I want the students to do some text work on the second act of 'Romeo and Juliet'. Therefore, I need some ideas what questions are suitable and rich in context to find out something about the characters of Mercutio and the Nurse. We will concentrate on the second act, especially the first, fourth and fifth scene. It would be wonderful if you could also tell at which part of the text the information is found.

Do not forget that there are also other sources available here at enotes. For one thing, you can search the Question Group of Romeo and Juliet. Another source is the Lesson Plans that have study guide questions. And, a third source is the Documents Section on which you can download documents that teachers have created with activities, questions, etc. on Romeo and Juliet.
Regarding questions for Act II, Scenes 1,4,and 5--
1. How do the Nurse (sc.4,5) and Mercutio (sc. 1) provide comic relief?
2. In what ways are Mercutio and the Nurse very loyal to Romeo and Juliet respectively (scene 4)?
3. What does Mercutio say in Scene 4 that foreshadows another situation?
4. What trait do Mercutio and the Nurse have in common (sc.5 for the Nurse)?
