Density is defined as the amount of mass that a certain volume can occupy or simply mass/volume. Commonly its unit is grams/mL. There are many purposes that density plays a role in the experiment.

1. to determine the mass or volume of the unknown

2. to produce an exact measurement of materials.

3. can be used to determine the concentration of a certain solution

4. can be used to identify the characteristic or identity of an unknown sample.

Purposes of density varies depending on how it was used in the experiment. Is it okay for you to submit at least the title of the experiment that you are working now? By doing so, we can determine the exact purpose of the density in your lab experiment.

Hope this helps. :)
