The pros of using reusable grocery bags are numerous.  We would cut down on the amount of deforestation, which is what paper bags are made of.  We would also cut down on the amount of disposable plastic bags used in the grocery industry, which normally wind up in landfills.  We would impact the public to adjust their mental attitude to one of recycling and helping instead of one of convenience.  We would help grocery stores by lessening the number of plastic and paper bags they would need to stay in business.  I am sure we could go on listing things that would be of a beneficial nature by using reusable grocery bags.

One con is that it is a waste of money on a personal basis that is normally covered by the grocery stores.  Many people look on recycling and the reuse of objects, such as grocery bags, as being inconvenient to their lifestyle.  It is one more thing to add to the list of things to have to keep up with.  The American public, in particular, is one that is used to having what they want when they want it the way they want it.  For many, reusing items like grocery bags is more effort that they are willing to expend.
