What is produced when the body's metabolism is more active?
Our body is in constant process and therefore requires significant amount of energy to proceed with daily metabolism. Metabolism is a term used to describe the overall chemical reactions happening in an organism. This can be catabolism (breaking down) or anabolism (building up). The molecules that have been formed or processed will be sent for a certain function/s. What happens now when the metabolism is more active is that the apparent usage of chemicals in our body is increased. For example, the increase consumption of glucose in the cells can produce increased production of the by-products such that of ATP or Adenosine triphosphate, a chemical that provides energy for the cells. Consequently, the more ATP is produced; more lactic acid will be produced as well. Lactic acid increases the pH of the cells and can harm the normal cells.
