Russia is one of the largest countries in the world in terms of its population. It has a huge land area and therefore has room for many people. The population of Russia, as estimated in July of 2013, is the 9th largest of the countries of the world. Russia is estimated to have a population of about 142,500,000. The countries with larger populations are China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Bangladesh.
However, since Russia’s land mass is so big, the country is not very crowded. Russia has a very low population density. Of the 100 countries with the largest populations, Russia is only the 97th most densely populated. Of these large countries, only Kazakhstan, Australia, and Canada have lower population densities.
Russia has an approximate population of 143.5 million people in 2013.
