What objects could I use to represent Squealer in Animal Farm?

I am doing a 'character in a bag' project and need object that represent squealer and his personality. For example for Boxer i would bring a weight and explain how this represents his strength.

An etch-a-sketch could nicely portray Squealer, representing his ability to take one idea and spin it, changing the idea almost completely into its opposite.

Another idea would be a thesaurus. Squealer is a master of slippery language, replacing one word with another that has a slightly better meaning for his purposes.

How about a mini video camera, since Squealer is one of the watchers? I like the paint brush idea. I'd also consider a watch, as a symbol of hypnotizing and brainwashing people. If you can get something to represents words, such as a printed page full of words, that would work.

I would also definitely put a paint brush in the bag.  Squealer was the one repainting the ever changing commandments. That is a good way to physically represent his lying nature.

This is a really interesting question.  In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Squealer is the pig responsible for spreading Napoleon's propaganda.  He lies and will do anything to help Napoleon.  In terms of what objects I would use to represent him, well, that's a tough question.  I would consider using a megaphone, since they help to "get the word out" to everyone.  This may be too simplistic, but you could also try finding an example of propaganda (I'm certain you could find tons of examples on the Internet, especially in Hitler's time)--perhaps a poster or advertisement, and use that to visually represent Squealer, as well.

This is a pretty tough one because Squealer's attributes don't lend themselves very well to being expressed through objects.  His attributes as I see them are:

  • Willingness to lie whenever he needs to.
  • He likes to confuse the animals with lots of statistics and big words
  • He's really fat
  • He is totally loyal to Napoleon
  • He seems to have no conscience

But I don't know what objects I'd use to try to represent these attributes.  If you had a Pinocchio with a long nose you could use that for lying.  Maybe something black and white because the animals say he could turn black into white?  A carton of milk because of how he lies to the animals to tell them why the pigs get all the milk?

I hope this is at least some help...
