Our neighboring planets are Venus and Mars. In all, our solar system contains 8 planets : (in order of distance from Sun) Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The first four planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) are the so called terrestrial planets, while the other four are giant planets (for being more massive than terrestrial planets). Pluto, a trans-Neptune celestial body, was also considered a planet until very recently, but has now been removed from the listing of planets (for lack of an individual orbit). Life exists on Earth and the neighboring or nearest planets to us are Venus and Mars. All these planets rotate around Sun, a star in our solar system.
Hope this helps.
