"The girl stood with her back to the bar, slightly in everyone's way," is the opening line from a short story called "Inexperience," by Frank Tuohy.  The short story is the seventh chapter in an anthology of short stories called The Admiral and the Nuns, published in 1962.  This was Tuohy's first volume of published short stories. "Inexperience" can also be found in Tuohy's anthology called The Collected Stories, which includes the text from The Admiral and the Nuns.
