The name of this political party was the People's Party.  It was also known as the Populist Party.

The Populist Party arose in 1889 out of the Farmers' Alliance in the South.  The party was made up mostly of agricultural people, though it later reached out and got some support among workers.  The party wanted to get the government to regulate businesses more in ways that would help farmers have an easier time surviving.  Specifically, it wanted things like limits on how much railroads could charge to ship farm products.

The Populist Party did not last very long, largely because the Democratic Party adopted many of its ideas.
