Robert Fulghum, the author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, defines four very specific reasons for going to San Saba. Fulghum states that the main reason he traveled to the Texan city was to "touch base." In the past, he had traveled there because of his relationship with Louise. Later, although Louise chose to "take up with someone else," he could not stay away. Fulghum also loved the beer and goat-roping.
Since he lived in a dry county, meaning no beer or liquor could be sold, Fulghum went to San Saba to purchase beer. He also loved the entertainment factor of goat-roping. Lastly, Fulghum never gave up hope that Louise would change her mind about him.
