What is the most important thing hobbits do in their lives?

I'm not sure the novel gives us an exact answer to this question. Although, because they tend to be fat, have many pantries in their hobbit holes, and eat six meals a day we can probably deduce that eating is fairly important to them. In addition, they enjoy parties, giving and receiving presents, and (until Bilbo broke this rule) avoiding adventures.
