The poem is about race and religion. It juxtaposes "the yellow man" and "blue-eyed men," and shows the yellow man to be more spiritual and in touch with important things like nature, happiness and spirituality.

While blue-eyed men have material goods like "swivel chairs
to whirl in tall buildings."  "Yellow men" have emotional goods, like laughter and tears.
