What are the main keys of public speaking?
Public speaking is almost like acting, in order to deliver a good speech, or performance, preparation is key. There are several things that should be done in order to make sure that you, as the speaker, are completely prepared for the event.
It is very important to be familiar with the arena or venue in which you will make your speech. This helps give you an air of confidence and ease with your surroundings. It is also vitally important to become familiar with the audience to whom you will be speaking. Get acquainted with the demographics of this group so that as a speaker you don't make any derrogatory comments that might be construed as insulting or insensitive to your audience.
Very important, of course, is for you to be well rehearsed in your speech material. Your material should sound natural when you deliver your speech, this is possible only after many hours of preparation and study.
Be confident when you speak, don't draw attention your nervousness, if you feel any, it will only make you more self-conscious and focus the audience on that very thing.
Sometimes, when a speaker is nervous, they deliver their speech too quickly, thereby watering down the message. Be clear on your message, stay on point, don't deviate from your planned comments and smile.
