This is a good question. There are many attributes that information must have to be useful to managers. Let me give a few of these characteristics.
First, information must be accurate. As you probably know there is so much information out there that you must be careful when it comes to accuracy. Just because something is in print does not make it accurate. You want to know how a person knows something. Is it based on reliable information? In other words, we need to do fact checks.
Second, information must also be timely and current. In the world of business information must be current, because things change on a daily basis. So, news that is a week old might not be helpful anymore.
Third, information must also be broad. This is to say that we now live in a globalized world. So, what happens in the Middle East is important to us. For example, the price of oil can go up overnight and this could change everything.
