What links can you make between the two points of view presented in these two articles?

The two articles discuss the imposition of external philosophy in the name of aid and development, which leads to the failure of already failing nations and weakens the power structure of states. Whether it is done in the name of foreign aid through NGOs (so called "NGOism") or development ("developmentalism"), the weak governments are controlled by external agencies. The articles provide several examples where these external agencies control not only healthcare, education, sanitation, but the governmental policies as well. These philosophies, NGOism and developmentalism, have been shown to foster dependency among local governments and weaken their controls.
Both the articles suggest that this weakening of local governments in the name of development is inexcusable and should be stopped. The articles concur that the lack of foreign intervention in its current form may lead to some failures but will hopefully strengthen the local governments in the long run. A "single formula fits all" approach should not be imposed on these states and local talents and nation-specific solutions should be developed.
