In general, Italy's economic goals are the same as those of every other country in the world.  Italy wants to have economic growth and low unemployment while also having low inflation.

There are some issues that are more specific to Italy.  First, Italy needs to find a way to make it easier for businesses to prosper.  To some commentators, Italy has too many rules (such as those involving the hiring and firing of workers) that keep businesses from growing.  Second, Italy needs to have more development in its southern region. Italy has a rich north and a poor south, which causes frictions within the country.  Solving this problem would help to ease political pressures within Italy was well.
