What is the issue of authority in Skippy Dies?
Skippy Dies is a story about the events that led up to the death of the main character, Skippy, during an eating contest at a Catholic boarding school in Ireland. When looking at twhat the issue of authority is within this book the concepts of youth, learning what it means to be an adult as they grow up, and religion all come into play. The pain and discomfort of Skippy discovering his identity is a key factor within the book looking through the lens of social standing within the school and developing an independent identity. The key factor about this book is that life is random and cannot always be planned for, it is our choices that guide us to our final destination.
