Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, published in 2001, is an investigative account of the fast-food industry and its harmful and wide-ranging impact on the United States and the world. Journalist Eric Schlosser wrote the book after his Rolling Stone article on the subject became popular. His book was written for a general readership, and a movie inspired by it was released a few years later.

Schlosser's book is a modern-day version of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle (1906). Sinclair's earlier work exposed the unsanitary conditions in the meat-packing industry as the US entered the twentieth century. Sinclair's book led to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act (1906).

Schlosser's book, unlike Sinclair's, is not a novel. Fast Food Nation is based on solid research. Also, some documents that were not intended for the public buttress Schlosser's key arguments.
