This incredibly interesting book tries to make sense of the major religions in today’s world. Peter Kreeft looks for compatibility between the different faiths and looks at whether or not we can call one religion more “true” or “correct” than another. This is a great tool for those wanting to examine religions critically rather than simply accepting everything that their faith has taught them.

Covering a variety of major religions including Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism, this book takes the form of dialogue and reads similarly to how a screenplay would. The clever use of words in the names of the characters in this book, Thomas Keptic and Bea Lever, should not be missed. These two young students are studying a course on world religions taught by Professor Fesser, and together, the three explore the claims, beliefs and plausibility of the various faiths. All along, the question of whether these faiths can work side-by-side is asked.

In a nutshell, this book provides some particularly helpful tools for thinking logically and critically about varying religious beliefs, which often contradict each other. To conclude with a comparison made by Kreeft, it’s up to you to decide whether the music of the different world religions create harmony or cacophony.
