What are the indications, risk factors, signs and symptoms of someone who is having a stroke?
Some symptoms of stroke include: headache, trouble with speech, trouble with comprehension, paralysis of limbs or face, and trouble with vision. Risk factors include: being overweight, lack of exercise, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, diabetes, heart disease. Other factors are family history of stroke, age, gender-strokes are more common in men than women, and even race-stroke risk is greatest in African Americans than other groups. Another term for stroke is cerebrovascular accident. A blocked blood vessel or bleeding around the brain can result in stroke. Strokes are the third major cause of death in the United States.
