The historical events that I find most common on the A.P. Exam in History are:

1. how the Constitution is interpreted over the years

2. the expansion of democratic ideals

3. federal-state relationships

4. expansion of civil rights

5. foreign policy and its interpretation- such as Neutrality, Monroe Doctrine, Containment

6. Connections between politics and economics

7. post WWII international affairs

Many of the essay topics ask the student to make connections between socio-economic issues, political institutions, and public policy.
