I really enjoy this book.  I love teaching it too.  Kids are usually impressed with it, because it is so different. I think the main thing I learned from this book is that you CAN do something new.  There are so many books about death, and war, and the Holocaust.  The Book Thief does address these topics, but in such an original way.  Death has been used as a narrator before, but never so cleverly and so engagingly.  This is an honest, heart-wrenching tale.
