Frank Bennett, the principal antagonist of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, suffers a gruesome fate: he is murdered, cooked, and eaten in an act of inadvertent cannibalism by the investigators who came looking for him.
The disappearance of Frank Bennett is initially a mystery, and his body is never recovered. However, it turns out that there is good reason for this. After being killed by Sipsey, who hit him on the head with a frying pan, Frank was cooked on the barbecue by Big George.
Big George and Idgie are arrested for Frank's murder, but the local minister provides them with an alibi, saying that they were at a revival meeting, and they are acquitted. At least some of Frank's body ends up being fed to the Georgia detectives who come to investigate Frank's disappearance. This is a neat and ironic, if grisly, method of hiding the evidence and ensures that Frank's body will never be found.
