What is a good, unique topic for an argumentative essay?
I don't want to write about abortion or same sex marriages or that stuff. I want someting funny or something you don't really think about. Please and Thank you to all who respond.

It’s a key to a good essay to “essay” (i.e., try) something thought-provoking. I agree that many topics are either overdone or irreconcilable. How about starting with a preposterous proposal and defending it on ethical or logical principle? (Famous example: “A Modest Proposal”) For example, there is a rule that paroled prisoners are not to have contact with other criminals; suppose the rule was changed to “Prisoners must be paroled in pairs and each member is responsible for the other’s behavior.” This is just an example. Or suppose that teen-agers were obligated to buy a song a day, but their purchase had to be approved by their grandparents. See what I mean? You can generate your own good subject by this method. Finally, a real suggestion: “Shoplifting is a necessary and therefore required activity for shoppers.” Be outrageous on the surface, and then construct a surprising argument in favor of what looked on the surface like an indefensible proposition. Good luck!
