One of the most interesting things about Emily Bronte (in fact all the Bronte sisters) was the influence of their family life as well as the political (what was happening in Europe at the time) and literary climate of the era in which they wrote. It would be interesting to look at how the Romantic and Gothic writers (especially the female ones) of the time had an impact on her writing and indeed what she did that was different and original.
Think also about the gender issues that would have arisen during the time that she wrote and what she did to combat these issues. The possible implications of these issues upon the characterisation of female characters within her work might also be of interest.
