President Franklin D. Roosevelt is one of the best known Democrats in the history of the United States.  His political affiliation was with the Democratic Party as he was a relatively liberal politician.

Roosevelt is best known for the fact that he was president from 1933 until he died while in office in 1945.  He is the only president to have been elected to four terms in office.  He is very important in American history because he was president during much of the Great Depression (during which he created the New Deal) and during most of World War II.
