There are programs of every sort from social and political action groups for parents of special needs children to Federal funded State grants for professionals as well as parents to be trained in implementing Federal law pertaining to "special education law, Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA)."

There are also family support groups funded at the local, state and federal levels to facilitate parents' effectiveness within mandated programs. There are also privately funded programs dedicated to providing "information, guidance and referral Pathways" to enhance parents' ability "to effectively participate in their child’s education, successfully access emotional and behavioral supports, actively advocate for their family’s best interests and build supportive parenting skills."
