Take note that in the formula

D= RT

D represents the distance traveled, R is the rate, and T is the time.

Below is an example of a word problem that applies the said formula.

Jack travels for 5 hours at an average speed of 62 miles per hour. How far did Jack travel?

To determine the distance traveled, plug-in the values of rate (62) and time (5) to the formula

D=RT

So,

`D= 62 * 5`

`D=310`
