What events in his life is Oedipus not able to control?

This is a complicated question, which probably cannot be looked at apart from the question of what he could control. With that said, there were a few things he could not control. He could not control that he was brought up in Corinth after being saved from exposure. He could also not change the fact that there was a prophecy given to his parents. Now the big question is whether he could or could not alter the prophecy of marrying his mother and killing his father. It happened, but did it have to happen? The jury is out on this one. If prophecies are unalterable, then Oedipus could not control it - no matter what. If prophecies could be altered, he could control his destiny.
