What are the effects of nuclear fusion on international relations?
Nuclear fusion is process in which lighter atoms combine to form heavier atoms and release energy in the process. An example is the fusion of hydrogen atoms to generate helium atoms and energy. This is what powers the stars, including our sun. Nuclear fusion has potential for both peaceful applications such as clean energy generation and military applications such as thermonuclear devices (or hydrogen bomb). There are both positive and negative impacts of nuclear fusion on international relations. Developed countries like US can claim the carbon credits by production of cleaner energy, fulfill their environmental responsibilities by achieving emission reduction targets and help friendly countries in preventing the global warming. On the other hand, proliferation of nuclear fusion technology will hand everyone the bombs and disturb the world peace. So, while the international relations will improve between some countries, it will worsen between other countries.
Hope this helps.
