What are the effects of electricity on the environment and the person?

There are many ways to answer this question. So, I am sure that answers will differ greatly. With that said, I think one of the things that we can say about the relationship between electricity and the environment is  that this relationship can be seen as an example of man seeking to conquer the environment. There is a strong theme, at least, in the West of people seeking to subdue the earth. We see this is among the Greeks, the Romans, European nations, and the U.S. People are able to "tame" the sea and burrow in the the earth to extract its riches. Hence, the idea of electricity can be seen as man's attempt to conquer nature.

The effect of electricity on the environment is caused by coal combustion leading to many pollutants. The key emissions  affect air quality.

Nitrogen oxides form when fuel is burned at high temperatures,as in combustion process.The primary sources are motor vehicles,and other industrial,commercial sources that consume fuels.

Sulphur dioxide generating colorless gas by the combustion  of oil and diesel fuel leads to breathing impairments and other respiratory symptoms in human beings.People suffering from asthma are adversely affected by it.
