what are the effects of amphetamines on the body and mind?
Amphetamines are drugs in the class called psychostimulants. They induce euphoria, wakefulness, decrease fatigue and appetite. They can cause increased blood pressure and hyperactivity. Blurred vision, impaired speech, headache and hyperactivity are other physical effects. Effects of amphetamines on the mind include an increase in dopamine which results in a euphoric state and increased epinephrine which results in an increase in anxiety. These drugs can effect personality, self-esteem, energy and concentration. Withdrawal from these drugs can be difficult sometimes resulting in suicidal thoughts and anxiety.
