In a relatively stable environment, there is a focus on process, as seen in the production of a niche product with an exclusive high-end market, and on human resource "people" issues, such as career path development. In a dynamic environment, the focus is on responding to changes that frequently arise, such as changes to organizational structure or the introduction of diversity through expansion. In a relatively stable environment, such as one without diversity introduced through multinational expansion, there is a stronger emphasis on individual member identity and team development, where end results are less critical than process. In a dynamic environment, time pressures created by the need to respond quickly to changes require higher risk tolerance and encourage performance rewards.
