As with her friend Daisy, it is semi-important that Jordan not really have to do anything for her living.  Though it is apparent that she is an athlete, and later on the reader learns that she is a golf pro who happened to have been caught up in a cheating scandal, there is little evidence of her actually "doing" anything to earn a living, the understanding is that she doesn't necessarily need to.

But if you put her down as the golf pro, you will have her occupation.

But what she "does" seems to be similar to what Daisy does in that she uses men to get what she wants and then discards them as soon as she sees fit.  She doesn't actually need anyone in terms of a lover or a romantic interest, she merely gets what she wants and then moves on.
