As his name would suggest, Everyman is representative of all of us. As Everyman is a morality play , the audience is meant to be taught a lesson by the end of the story. God sends Death to visit Everyman to remind him (and us) of the sins associated with worldliness and greed. Death reminds Everyman that God is judging him for his good and bad deeds and will punish or reward him when he dies. Death sets Everyman on a journey to be judged by God in the afterlife.
