What does facebook mean?
Facebook originally started as a social networking site for college students. Anyone over 13 can use it to create a profile with a biographical information, photos, videos, etc. One can view friends information and pictures as well. One can post comments on their wall and can email friends directly. Mark Zuckerberg created facebook in his second year of college. He used photos from fellow Harvard students, and posted them online two at a time, to see if people would choose the "hotter" person. It was initially shut down and Zuckerberg faced charges and expulsion from Harvard, with charges eventually dropped. Later, in 2004, he wrote the program for thefacebook, to create a centralized website where people could contact people around the university. In one day after completion, 1200 or more people registered. By 2005, Facebook explanded to 21 universities and the rest is history.
