Georgia is a very resourceful and determined woman. Her chocolate "baby daddy" is a conceited and arrogant man in the beginning of the book.  In my opinion his relationship with his daughter Dakota is the catalyst that changes him into a mature man.  With Georgia's death, he realizes what he has missed in life and rearranges his priorities.
