What do you think about friendship, from a sociological perspective?
Friendship is a good thing, but it can lead to a lot of disillusionments and disappointments. Here are a few quotes on friends and friendship that might remind you of some of your own experiences with friends.
Do not keep on with the mockery of friendship after the substance is gone--but part, while you can part friends. Bury the carcass of friendship: it is not worth embalming. - William Hazlitt
It's no good trying to keep up old friendships. It's painful for both sides. The fact is, one grows out of people, and the only thing is to face it. -Somerset Maugham
A relationship is like a shark: it has to constantly keep moving forward or it dies. And I'm afraid what we've got here is a dead shark. -Woody Allen
An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast will wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. -Buddha
People should learn to see and so avoid all danger. Just as a wise man keeps away from mad dogs, so one should not make friends with evil men. -Buddha
These days a lot of young people are collecting friends on the Internet. To my mind this is a frivolous and possibly dangerous pastime. I heard of one young man who had over 3,000 "friends" he communicated with electronically. It isn't that easy to find real friends. I think it's a good idea to start by being a good friend to yourself. Do I sound a little bit cynical?
Holden Caulfield went looking for friendship in The Catcher in the Rye and didn't find any. Pip expected to meet a lot of wonderful people in Great Expectations and found that his only real friends were those he had turned his back on.
Friendship is one of the most important things in a person's life especially for women. The research shows that for women, their women friends carry them through the trials of life, that their women friendships improve their health and life span because of their support for each other, and relieve some of the stress of life. Men don't talk to their friends about themselves like women do; men tend to talk about things such as sports, jobs, and more superficial items about themselves. Thus, their friendships don't do the same for most men at improving their lives and life span; being married does that for them. For youth and young adults, friendship is critical because without friends, people can feel alone which is usually not good. Friendship to me is loyalty, support, concern, joy, and a two-way street between my friends and me.
I like having friendships because its more people to be there when you need them the most or people to fight for you when someone bulling you i guess my thoughts on friendship are people who will always be there nomatter what and you always know that they arent fakes they are your real friends
