Ahhhhhhhhh..... the final report written, the final classroom door locked for another year. And now the summer stretches delightfully in front of us. This is the time to dig out the tent and walking boots and head for the blue, remembered hills, far from the madding crowd.
What do you like to do with your long summer holiday?
Into my heart an air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
Just like poster #2, Read Read Read Read Read. And then read some more. Travel ends up in there somehow, usually to the Northwest to visit family. Also LOTS of swimming, as I live in the desert of Southern California. When it's 115 degrees, you can either sit in the air-conditioned house and read, or swim in the slightly cooler water. I also spend time preparing for the next school year, although that usually occurs in the last few weeks. This year, I've caught up on everything I couldn't do during the year: bought a house, moved, had my wisdom teeth removed, got a new tattoo, and went on a cruise. And now, back to Beowulf.
Read read read read read. And then read some more. Oh - and spend time with wife and kids and remember that I am a husband and a Dad. Have you finished Wolf Hall yet? Did you enjoy it? I thought it was incredible! I really like that author's work.
My favorite summertime activities are reading, researching, spending time with family, swimming, and traveling! Anything that has to do with water sports or the beach is a big hit with me! I love spending time with my family traveling when we can. Once in awhile, I like to go to the musical theater and see a good play!
I finished it yesterday :-) what a book! And she is working on the next installment as we speak.. lucky us.
