Jonas's opinion about release changes drastically when he encounters the ideas of death and suffering through his training.  His parents and the elders consider release a part of life, and they see nothing morally repulsive about it because it is just the way things are in the community.

Release is the rather euphemistic phrase that the community give to when a person leaves the community and passes on. However, in spite of the way that it is sugar coated in this fashion, the real meaning of the word becomes clear to Jonas when he watches his father releasing a twin baby. Jonas discovers that a "release" is actually another name for murder by injection.

The Giver knows the whole thing about release and what it is, he knows that it is death and kind of a murder. I think he is not contented with this system but not as shocked as Jonas either because he is wise and experienced so he got used to this sort of events. Jonas on the other hand, sees release as an awful thing and when he fully understood the meaning of it he decided he wanted to leave the community for sure. Jonas' parents don't see release as a bad, and something that should be seen as an awful thing because they don't have any emotions whatso ever. Also The Elders think like Jonas' parents as well.

Jonas was like a usual member of the community in the beginning of the novel. He was curious about what release is and he was always asking questions about it to his father. When Jonas learned that release is actually death, he was shocked. He thought he could not live there anymore and then he escaped. When we look at the Giver, he knows about everything and he is very experienced. He does not want anybody to be released because he has the emotions and feelings and death. Also Jonas's father knows what release is, but because of his emotionless life he does not care about it. He thinks that he is just doing his work. Jonas's parents obey the rules perfectly and because of that they give respect to releasing.

The Giver has a huge knowledge about the everything in the community, life and the "release".I think he is no happy with this system too because when Jonas said that my father will release a boy,he said that I hope he can not.Jonas behaves normal against release during he doesn't know its real meaning however when he learn he was completely disappointed, sad. The elders think that it is the right system to death, and I guess Jonas's parents are supporting this because both of them have a big respect to their commitee's laws, rules.
