I can think of two major disappointments that Mr. Hoodhood experiences during The Wednesday Wars.

The first disappointment is a totally understandable one. It is the disappointment that he experiences after finding out he lost the contract bid for designing the new store. The other main architect (Meryl Lee's father) won the contract.
