What are the different parts of the ear?
The outer ear, the part that is visible to us, is actually useful in collecting sound waves and directing them into the inner ear where they will become recognizable to the brain. Obviously they come in all different shapes and sizes and consists of the outer ear, the ear canal, and the first layer of the ear drum.
The middle ear includes the air space between the drum and the inner ear and several bones.
The inner ear consists of the cochlea, the vestibule and the semi-circular canals. This is the part of the organ that also serves to control balance and sense of equilibrium.
