What is the difference between a deposit and an ore?

A mineral deposit contains one or more elements that are useful to mankind but the concentration is not high enough to be mined profitably.  If the deposit contains commercial quantities of one or more elements it is referred to as an ore and can be mined to extract the desired element(s) and make a profit doing so.
