What is the difference between the androgenic and anabolic effects of the male sex hormone, testosterone?

The androgenic effects of a hormone involve the stimulation and control of the development and maintenance of male characteristics. In humans one of the primary androgenic hormones is testosterone. The maturation of the penis and the formation of the scrotum is the primary androgenic effect of testosterone. Other effects include the growth of facial hair in men and the deepening of the voice.

The anabolic effects of a hormone are the formation of organs and tissue. Testosterone causes the growth of muscle mass and an increase in bone density making them longer and increasing their strength. Men are in more muscular than women primarily due to the fact that the production of testosterone  in males is around ten times the production of the same in females.
